Alize Lam is a Hong Kong-based product designer specializing in upcycling design. For over a decade, she has been creating self-assembly kits that repurpose discarded materials to address social and environmental issues.

In an era where traditional kinetic toys and musical instruments are being replaced by cheap electronics, quality materials are substituted with plastic, and broken objects are discarded rather than repaired, Alize is dedicated to reviving the value of simple mechanical design. Inspired by objects that function without batteries, her work reintroduces the joy of hands-on creation, encouraging people to experience the process of making from scratch. From transforming wine boxes into DIY musical instruments to repurposing discarded pianos into interactive installations, she aims to shift public perception on waste and sustainability.
