香港賽馬會社區資助計劃：『港文化．港連結』──點止玩具咁簡單

In 2023, the Hulu Culture team connected with a diverse group of creators, collectors, and community members from the toy and culture sectors, inviting them to showcase their most cherished pieces in a special exhibition. The curation brought nostalgia to life, featuring everything from vintage classics and American and Japanese icons to homegrown Hong Kong trendy toys—each carrying its own unique story.

Parallel to the exhibition, local artists, mentors, and students collaborated with various organizations to design innovative, toy-themed artworks. This collective effort involved deep research and creative dialogue, resulting in a rich, multimedia exploration of Hong Kong’s toy heritage.

As part of this initiative, I had the privilege of serving as a mentor at HKDI, where I taught a short course on automata—exploring its rich history both as a classic toy and a powerful creative medium. During the course, students mastered the foundational mechanics of automata before designing their own themed pieces. Utilizing up-cycled wine box wood, they developed woodworking skills and embraced teamwork, ultimately bringing their creations to life for the final exhibition at Central Market.
